At Ride High, we’re focused on helping children build confidence, feel happier, and believe in themselves, and our newly released 2025 Impact Report shows just how powerful that support can be.
In 2025 we supported a record 374 children and young people, each with their own story, challenges, and journey. From those facing anxiety and low self-esteem to children dealing with bereavement, domestic abuse or difficult home lives, the need for support has never been greater. And thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, partners, volunteers and community, we’ve been able to be there for them.
The difference you’re helping to make
Behind every number in our report is a child who has grown in confidence, made a friend, or felt heard – sometimes for the very first time.

For Mylo, aged 8, Ride High became a place where he could feel safe and escape his worries while his mum was unwell. He said:
“When I was riding, my head felt quieter and I was happy. Ride High makes me feel safe and happy.”
Stories like Mylo’s sit at the heart of this year’s impact:
-
- Every child who joined Ride High increased their physical activity
-
- Over half improved their school attendance
-
- 95% said they felt able to talk about their worries
-
- 97% said they look forward to coming each week
These are more than statistics; they’re moments of change that can shape a young person’s future.
Responding to growing need
We’re seeing more children than ever who need support. In Milton Keynes alone, many young people are facing challenges linked to poverty, mental health, and social isolation. Ride High provides a safe, supportive environment where children can step away from those pressures, spending time with horses, connecting with others, and building the skills they need to navigate life’s challenges. We’re proud to work closely with schools, health services and local organisations to reach those who need us most.
Olivia Sugdon, CEO of Ride High, said:
“We are seeing more children than ever who need support. This report highlights not only the scale of that need, but the difference early intervention can make. At Ride High, we give children the space to build confidence, form positive relationships and start to believe in themselves again.”
More than a programme – a place to belong
For many children, Ride High becomes somewhere they feel safe, valued and understood. Through riding, caring for horses, and taking part in group activities, they develop friendships, resilience and a sense of achievement. For some, it’s also a stepping stone to re-engaging with education or finding new direction in life. Our Impact Report shares just a few of these stories, each one a reminder of what’s possible with the right support at the right time.
Looking ahead
As demand for our services continues to grow, so does our ambition. At the Ride High Equestrian Centre*, a new alternative education provision (Aim High UK*) that will support young people to gain qualifications and develop life skills has been launched, and we’re on the cusp of expanding our reach beyond Milton Keynes.
But none of this is possible without continued support. Ride High is entirely self-funded, and every donation, partnership, and fundraising effort helps us reach more children who need us. If you’ve supported us this year – thank you. You are part of every story in this report. And if you’re new to Ride High, we’d love you to be part of what comes next.
