More than 160 cyclists of all ages and abilities came together in June for Ride MK, Ride High’s annual cycling festival, helping to raise vital funds and awareness for vulnerable and disadvantaged children across Milton Keynes.
Held in glorious sunshine on Sunday 14 June, this year’s event welcomed a record 161 participants, who collectively cycled an incredible 7,150 kilometres across four routes. From the challenging 100km and 50km road rides to the family-friendly 25km Redway route and the children’s Ready Set Go! ride, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
One of the highlights of the day was the wide range of people taking part. Families cycled together, experienced riders pushed themselves to new personal challenges, friends and colleagues rode as teams, and children took part alongside parents and grandparents. Our youngest participant was just one year old!
While fundraising remains an important part of Ride MK, the event is about much more than the money raised. Every cyclist helps to spread awareness of Ride High and the support we provide for local children. For many participants, it was their first introduction to the charity and an opportunity to learn more about how our programmes help children build confidence, develop life skills and achieve brighter futures.
The festival atmosphere was made possible by an incredible team of volunteers who gave their time both before and during the event. From helping prepare the site and supporting registrations to marshalling routes and cheering participants across the finish line, their enthusiasm and dedication were invaluable.
Special thanks go to colleagues from SEAT CUPRA at Volkswagen Milton Keynes and DoTERRA, who joined us for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) volunteer days in the lead-up to the event, helping ensure everything was ready for the big day.
We would also like to thank our event sponsors SIS, Brioche Pasquier, Bailey MK and Cranswick Convenience Foods, whose support helped make Ride MK possible. Additional thanks go to Trek Milton Keynes and Nimlok for their valued contribution to this year’s event.
Following the festival, Ride High hosted a volunteer celebration event, recognising the amazing individuals who give their time throughout the year. Long-service certificates, badges and special recognition awards were presented to volunteers whose commitment makes such a difference to the children and young people we support.
The feedback from this year’s participants has been overwhelmingly positive, with many already saying they plan to return next year and encourage others to join them.
As Ride MK continues to grow, we hope to welcome even more cyclists, families, volunteers and supporters in 2027. Whether you’re looking for a personal challenge, a fun family activity or simply a great way to support a local charity, we’d love you to be part of it.
Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for the announcement of the Ride MK 2027 date – we can’t wait to do it all again!
