How to refer a child

Making a referral

Children and young people must be referred to Ride High by professionals working with them. This helps us to ensure that we work with those who need us most. Referrers include GP’s, medical practitioners, CAMHS workers, social workers, members of the Children’s and Families’ Practice team, members of the Strengthening Families team, youth workers, youth offending workers, parish workers, school staff and pastoral leaders.

The process

Referrers need to complete and submit the Ride High Referral Form. It is important to gain consent from the parent/carer before making the referral including consent to sharing with us the child’s personal information. The Parent/Carer Consent Form can be completed at a later date, if and when a place becomes available for the child.

It is vitally important that the referral forms are competed with as much information as possible to enable us to prioritise the child and place them in the most appropriate place on the waiting list. If there are sensitive details that you do not wish to disclose on the form, please contact the Children’s Manager to discuss in confidence. Please note if forms do not contain enough information then we may return them to you for further details.

Once you’ve submitted online the form a copy will be emailed to Ride High and conformation of submission will be sent to the address provided by the referrer.

Ride High prioritise the referrals we receive by level of need, assessed using the information you provide. Once your referral has been processed it will join our waiting list and the referrer will be notified of its place on the list. If you do not hear from us within two weeks please contact us. It is impossible to say how long it will be before a suitable place becomes available, but we will contact you when that happens. If the child’s circumstances change please contact us as this might affect their position on the waiting list.

If you have any questions regarding the referral process or forms please get in touch at admin@ridehigh.org or call 07507 308943.
