We were very proud to be part of His Majesty the King’s celebratory visit to Milton Keynes on Thursday 16th February, to mark Milton Keynes’ new status as a city.
Ride High staff and members waited patiently with the crowds outside the Christ the Cornerstone Church for King Charles’ arrival. But we were also inside the church with other selected charities and organisations invited to represent Milton Keynes and had the absolute honour of meeting the King personally.
King Charles visited our Ride High stand, shook our hands, and gave us the opportunity to tell him briefly about the charity. Our members Holly and Anna enjoyed explaining what they do at Ride High and how it helps and presented him with his very own rosette! King Charles told the girls to always get straight back on the horse if they ever fall off! After speeches from MK Mayor Amanda Marlow and King Charles, and the unveiling of a special plaque, King Charles departed to the hymn Amazing Grace, sung beautifully by Emily Haig. Before he left, he smiled to the girls and said it was time to go back to their riding.
This was a truly remarkable experience for the charity and our members Holly, Anna, Theo and Charlie – and one we’ll certainly never forget.
